Job Purpose A leading defense company in Abu Dhabi is looking for a Principal Engineer – Radio Frequency to join its advanced technology team. In this role, you will build, test and modify product prototypes, develop and implement designs and provide support to other team members to ensure compliance to time-frame, quality, and cost targets.
Key Responsibilities Design and develop RF circuits, systems, and subsystems to meet performance specifications. Define requirements for RF boards based on overall system requirements, ensuring that all design criteria are met. Design of RF boards for communication systems, including schematics capture, PCB layout, and simulation. Coordinate with mechanical engineers on the design of RF shielding to ensure optimal system performance. Perform RF testing, including S-parameters, gain, power, and noise figure measurements. Optimize RF designs for performance, cost, and manufacturability. Work with cross-functional teams to integrate RF components into final products. Conduct system-level analysis and simulation to ensure designs meet the required specifications. Support the testing and troubleshooting of RF systems and components in the lab. Develop and maintain RF test plans, procedures, and documentation. Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to ensure seamless integration of RF components. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. Analyze and resolve issues related to interference, signal integrity, and system performance. Provide technical support to the manufacturing and production teams.
Required Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent Minimum 7 years of experience in RF design, testing, and troubleshooting Strong understanding of RF principles, including transmission lines, antennas, and impedance matching. Experience with RF simulation tools (e.g., AWR, ADS, CST, HFSS, etc.). Proficiency in using RF measurement equipment, such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and signal generators. Experience with schematics capture, PCB layout, and simulation tools (e.g., Mentor, Altium Designer, or similar). Familiarity with upconverter and downconverter design. Experience in designing high-power amplifiers and related RF components. Knowledge of wireless communication standards (e.g., LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.). Ability to analyze complex RF system behaviors and solve problems creatively.
