We are currently seeking highly motivated and experienced Procurement Engineer.
Position Overview:
Under the supervision of their manager, the procurement officer plays a vital role in ALEC by making sure Project Managers have all materials to effectively perform their projects and ensuring that the company is getting the best value for its investment in the procured materials and services.
Responsibilities:
The individual will be responsible for (but not limited to):
- Receive approved requisitions from the businesses and execute transactions in a timely and accurate manner.
- Understand the project requirement and acquire the required materials for completion of the project.
- Verify purchase requisition by comparing items requested to master list, clarify unclear items, recommending alternatives.
- Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history.
- Prepare RFQ's to obtain competitive bids from approved sources.
- Provide cost and lead time information provided by supplier to others such as management, planning, contracts estimating, manufacturing or others.
- Review quotations/ proposals including commercial terms (payment, delivery, warranting, shipping), conduct value analysis and negotiate to achieve purchasing goals.
- Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and recommend corrective action.
- To work as per budget set by the construction/project manager.
- Purchase the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in correct amounts.
- Uses knowledge of the market to determine whether a product or service is a good value for the company.
- Maintains electronic or hard copy records of all purchases made for the company including the cost, delivery details, quality or the product or service and current inventories.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Civil Engineering Degree or Equivalent
- Minimum 4 years construction experience with at least 2 years’ experience in procurement or commercial in Fit-Out works.
Other Skills / Abilities:
- Possesses good listening skills as well as strong critical thinking abilities.
- The ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
- Displays strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Has knowledge of construction products and services that best benefit the company.
- Demonstrates excellent judgment and decision-making abilities when selecting a supplier or product.
- Possesses good negotiation and persuasion skills when dealing with suppliers and striving to get the best contract for the company.
