Job Description
Position Overview: The Head of Procurement will lead the procurement function and be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier relationships for all steel and related materials. This role requires a deep technical understanding of steel products and their applications, as well as strategic leadership to optimize procurement processes and ensure cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Procurement Leadership: Develop and implement comprehensive procurement strategies to ensure the supply of raw materials, consumables, etc. aligned with the company's objectives, focusing on quality, cost, and supply chain efficiency.
Technical Expertise: Utilize extensive knowledge of steel types, grades, and specifications to evaluate suppliers and materials, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
Supplier Development: Identify, assess, and establish long-term relationships with suppliers to secure high-quality materials and negotiate favorable terms.
Cost Management and Analysis: Monitor procurement costs, analyze market trends, and implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining product quality.
Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical expertise.
Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with production and quality assurance teams to ensure material specifications meet production needs.
Market Research: Conduct thorough market analysis to stay abreast of industry trends, supplier capabilities, and emerging technologies in steel manufacturing.
Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts with suppliers, ensuring compliance with company policies, legal standards, and quality expectations.Risk Management: Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring uninterrupted supply.
Performance Reporting: Prepare and present reports on procurement performance, supplier evaluations, and market conditions to senior management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of procurement experience, with at least 4 years in a leadership role within the steel manufacturing industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of steel products, manufacturing processes, and industry standards (e.g., ISO).
- Proven track record of successful supplier management and contract negotiation.- Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.
- Strong understanding of market dynamics in the steel industry, including pricing and sourcing trends.
