Senior Compliance Officer

Job Objective: Monitoring the bank's compliance with regulations, instructions, and approved work procedures, ensuring that the various units of the bank do not violate these procedures and laws. Additionally, the role involves participating in the management of incoming and outgoing correspondences with certain external entities to meet business requirements.

Responsibilities:

  1. Participates in the management of incoming correspondences from regulatory bodies and follows up with the concerned departments to ensure that the necessary procedures are taken to meet compliance requirements. Reports to the direct supervisor in case of delays.
  2. Follows up on outgoing correspondences from the bank to various regulatory bodies by verifying the purpose of the correspondence and the authority of the person intending to communicate with the authority.
  3. Participates in monitoring the adherence of various departments within the bank to the periodic disclosures that must be issued to regulatory authorities within the required timeframe. Assists in continuously updating the periodic disclosure guide according to developments throughout the year and informs the direct supervisor of any potential cases of delayed disclosures or inaccuracies in the data.
  4. Participates in assessing non-compliance cases, evaluating the reasons behind them, and assessing the bank's control procedures related to these compliance issues. Provides recommendations to improve the control environment regarding compliance risks and submits them to the direct supervisor.
  5. Participates in the periodic compliance checks based on the pre-established compliance program, assists in preparing the necessary verification matrices, and participates in evaluating the control procedures governing compliance risks. Submits the results of follow-ups to the direct supervisor.
  6. Reviews work procedures, mechanisms, and forms sent by the Organization Department, assesses their compliance with the bank’s compliance policies, provides recommendations, and submits them to the direct supervisor for transmission to the Organization Department. Follows up on any developments in this regard.
  7. Participates in workshops organized by the Operational Risk Department, contributing to identifying compliance risks, evaluating control procedures, and providing recommendations to enhance the control environment.
  8. Reviews products and services according to the bank’s approved product and service approval mechanism, identifies compliance requirements, and submits recommendations to the direct supervisor.
  9. Participates in providing advice and guidance to the various departments, administrations, and branches of the bank on all matters related to compliance with regulatory requirements.
  10. Participates in the review of the Compliance Department’s risk file and conducts periodic control checks.
  11. Keeps track of updates related to the legislative frameworks that affect the bank’s operations and informs the direct supervisor accordingly.

Communication and Work Relations:

  • Daily verbal/written communication with the direct supervisor to complete tasks.
  • As needed, phone/written/verbal communication with departments of the head office and branches to respond to their inquiries and complete tasks.

Scope of Work and Authority:

  • Works within defined policies and work mechanisms.

Skills and Competencies:

  • University degree in administrative or banking sciences or any related field.
  • At least 4 years of work experience in banking, with no less than 3 years of experience in compliance.
  • Full proficiency in both Arabic and English.
  • Proficiency in computer use and working with applicable systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good knowledge of the policies and procedures governing work and their updates (internal and external).
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
