Job Summary:

  • The Sr. Specialist - Surveying is responsible for conducting accurate land surveys and measurements to provide essential data for construction projects.
  • This role involves analyzing survey data, interpreting engineering plans, operating surveying instruments, and collaborating with project teams to ensure proper land alignment and adherence to project specifications.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct precise field surveys using surveying instruments, such as total stations, GPS receivers, and digital levels, to collect accurate measurements of land features and structures.
  • Interpret engineering plans and construction drawings to understand project requirements, including property boundaries, elevation levels, and site layouts.
  • Establish control points and benchmarks on construction sites to reference and guide subsequent surveying activities.
  • Use surveying software and computer-aided design (CAD) software to process survey data, create digital maps, and produce survey reports.
  • Determine and mark property boundaries, property lines, and corner points to establish legal boundaries and ensure compliance with zoning regulations.
  • Conduct topographic surveys to identify natural and man-made features on the construction site, such as land contours, existing structures, utilities, and vegetation.
  • Perform construction staking by marking reference points, pathways, and elevations to guide construction crews during the building process.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction managers to ensure accurate interpretation and implementation of survey data for construction projects.
  • Monitor and maintain surveying equipment, ensuring proper calibration, maintenance, and repair to guarantee reliable and accurate measurements.
  • Keep accurate records of surveys, measurements, and field notes, ensuring documentation and data integrity for future reference and legal purposes.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols while conducting surveys, ensuring personal safety and the safety of others on construction sites.
  • Stay updated with industry advancements, surveying techniques, and equipment to enhance surveying practices and ensure effective project delivery.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide expertise on land surveying matters, addressing any concerns or issues related to land alignment, boundaries, and measurements.
  • Collaborate with local government agencies and landowners to obtain necessary permits and permissions for surveying activities, adhering to legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior surveying staff, assisting with training and mentoring to improve their surveying skills and knowledge.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Surveyor in the construction industry is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in using surveying instruments, such as total stations, GPS receivers, and digital levels, and surveying software.
  • Strong knowledge of surveying principles, techniques, and relevant surveying regulations and standards.
  • Familiarity with interpreting engineering plans, construction drawings, and CAD software.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills for accurate calculations and measurements.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
  • Proficient in using computer software for data processing, mapping, and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with project teams, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
  • Physical stamina to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations applicable to land surveying activities.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple surveying projects concurrently.
  • Professional surveying license or certification is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to different construction sites as required.
