Definition:
- Logistics Engineer stands as a channel of information and instruction and stands as a mediator between shipper/vendor, consignee/client, shipping line/agent, customs, transporter/trucking company, shipping forwarder, customs broker, site material controller, procurement team, expediting team, and logistics team. A vital role as they are responsible for effective, on time, clear and precise information and instruction to all parties concerned.
General Characteristics:
- A Logistics Engineer must have a suitable level of education and experience within an office environment, local and international shipping or forwarding.
Role and Responsibilities:
- To communicate effectively with clients, vendors, shippers, forwarders, transportation, customs, couriers, site and other operational departments.
- To organize and assist with training as required for newly hired staffs
- To ensure that full coordination scope are completed and maintained for all import and export shipments
- To assist clients/expeditors / logistics members to improve faster shipping/transportation with lesser cost
- To monitor cargo movement through the tracking system
- Updates customs clearance status
- Sends updates to client and all project related team
- Reviews freight rates: air, sea, courier, and land
- Liaises with custom brokers and local agents for reporting procedures
- Maintains contacts with seaport, airport, border, and other local governments key person
- Reviews shipping drawing and transportation plan
- Coordinate with vendors and transporters of heavy cargo shipments
- Supports in Route survey if required
- Attends meeting with vendors, clients, site, and all related departments if required
- Visits seaport, airport, border if required
- Attends loading of heavy cargo if required
- Expedites all critical orders with local subcontract vendor
- Responsible for monitoring clearance, deliveries, ensuring customer satisfaction and maintaining accurate logs or records of all related project shipments
- Prepares invoice payment application to accounts thru SAP system
- Prepares and submits daily status to all project related team and client
- Prepares and submits logistics report as required per project
- Ensure effective and timely implementation of all Logistics daily operational goals
- Establish and manage relations with warehouses/storage yard, ocean carriers, customs broker, transporters, and clients
- Negotiate and support logistics costs meant for 3rd party logistics providers assisting yearly budget goals.
- Plan and arrange logistics required shipments.
Skills
Education:
- University Graduate (Logistics, Supply Chain, Customs Admin, Industrial / Mechanical, Business Management)
Experience:
- Transportation, Expeditor, Customs Admin, Logistics, Freight Forwarding.
Knowledge:
- The Logistics Engineer (LE) will oversee and manage the logistics operational activities of each Project with regards to related requirements of project ; (contracting, maintaining), sea freight, airfreight, land transportation, and across border land transportation movement of equipment and materials.
Technical:
- A Logistics Engineer must have a suitable level of education and experience within an office environment, local and international shipping or forwarding.
- Result oriented person with excellent interpersonal written/oral skills.
- Analyze logistical problems and produce new solutions.
- Could produce maximum volume of work with quality outcome
- A Logistics Engineer must be able to work as part of a team in a fast paced and pressured environment, communicating effectively with both colleagues and clients and following verbal and written instructions.
