Job Title: Senior Engineer – Hardware (Mechanical) Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (Relocation Opportunity) Business Unit: CTO
Job Purpose A defense company based in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer (Mechanical) to join its advanced technology team. This role is ideal for a Senior Engineer with strong experience in designing and validating robust mechanical systems, from Solid Works concept and simulation through standards compliant testing and cost effective production, while collaborating with vendors to deliver high quality RF and satellite hardware.
Key Responsibilities Develop detailed 2D and 3D mechanical designs in Solid Works, including models, assemblies, technical drawings, and high-quality renderings for product development and client presentations Perform thermal, structural, and stress simulations using Simulation and analysis tools to ensure designs withstand thermal cycling, vibration, and environmental extremes Design mechanical components and systems in compliance with MIL‑STD‑810, DO‑160, and relevant RF and satellite industry standards Manage communication with vendors and suppliers to support fabrication, prototyping, production, and testing, ensuring timely delivery and resolving schedule or quality issues Apply strong knowledge of materials, machining, fabrication, and assembly processes to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective Optimize designs for manufacturability and production efficiency while maintaining performance and design integrity Participate in or oversee mechanical testing and validation, including thermal, vibration, and environmental testing, to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance Maintain thorough documentation of design iterations, test results, and standards compliance, preparing clear reports for engineers, project managers, and clients
Required Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field8+ years of mechanical engineering experience, specialising in product design Advanced Solid Works skills (2D/3D modelling, assemblies, and rendering) Hands-on experience with thermal and structural analysis using Flowtherm or similar tools Proven ability to design products to MIL‑STD‑810 and DO‑160 requirements Strong knowledge of materials, machining, and manufacturing processes in SATCOM and RF environments Experience overseeing fabrication, working closely with vendors from manufacturing through delivery Skilled in supplier coordination, quality control, and schedule management Background in product testing, including thermal cycling, vibration, and environmental testing Strong problem-solving skills with a track record of troubleshooting mechanical design issues
Desirable Skills Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work in a cross-disciplinary team Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
