Health and Safety Officer

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Compliance: Develop, implement, and enforce health, safety, and environmental policies tailored to the manufacturing environment. Ensure compliance with ISO and IRATA regulations and other industry-specific safety standards and ROPE ACCESS standard
  • Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment: Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of machinery, equipment, and work areas. Identify potential hazards related to manufacturing processes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Incident Investigation: Investigate workplace accidents, near misses, and safety violations. Prepare detailed reports, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and safety improvements.
  • Safety Training & Awareness: Develop and deliver safety training programs to all employees, including machine operators, maintenance staff, and supervisors, focusing on safety protocols, emergency response, and equipment handling.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Management: Ensure proper use, maintenance, and availability of PPE across the facility. Monitor employee compliance with safety protocols.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop and conduct emergency drills for fire safety, chemical spills, electrical hazards, and other manufacturing-related emergencies. Ensure proper emergency response procedures are in place.
  • Environmental Sustainability: Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental regulations concerning waste management, hazardous material handling, air quality, and water usage within the manufacturing plant.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training programs, and regulatory compliance documentation. Prepare reports for management regarding safety performance and ongoing improvements.
  • Collaboration with Management: Work closely with production managers and team leaders to integrate safety into daily operations and foster a culture of proactive safety within the workforce.
  • Continuous Improvement: Assist in the development of a safety improvement program, tracking trends, safety metrics, and KPIs to evaluate the effectiveness of safety initiatives and recommend improvements.
  • Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree Environmental Science, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5 years of experience in health, safety, and environmental roles within a manufacturing environment (e.g., production, assembly lines, heavy machinery).
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards, environmental regulations, and manufacturing safety protocols.
  • Proven experience conducting risk assessments and developing safety plans specific to manufacturing operations.
  • Certification in safety management (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA 30-hour) is highly preferred.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to train and engage employees at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple safety initiatives simultaneously.

    Pay: Up to AED3,000.00 per month
