Project Background
Through the Youth Grow Activity, USAID/Jordan seeks to increase the meaningful participation of the youth of Jordan within their communities and in the economy. This will be achieved through three objectives: (a) Increase youth access to high-quality career planning information and livelihood opportunities; (b) Strengthen youth leadership through targeted support of local youth-led and youth-serving organizations in order to promote youth participation as decision makers and key contributors to individual, household, community, and national well-being; and (c) Strengthen Government of Jordan (GOJ) systems, in partnership with youth, to provide more coordinated and effective services, practices, and policies that embody the principles of Positive Youth Development (PYD). This integrated, cross-sectoral activity will focus on 15 to 29-year- old youth throughout Jordan.
Responsibilities
The Chief of Party (COP) will be responsible for providing the vision and overall leadership to the team; managing activities; overseeing deliverables produced; and coordinating with USAID/Jordan and key counterparts. The COP will serve as the primary point of contact with USAID/Jordan with regard to day-to-day activity implementation and management matters relating to the contract. The COP will have overall responsibility for ensuring that all work provided under the contract, whether by international or local personnel, is technically sound and appropriate for the requirements of the contract. The COP will manage the preparation and presentation of proposed implementation plans and all reports.
The COP will provide direct supervision of and work with key personnel, a primary local partner, and a wide range of additional Jordanian partners and resource firms.
Liaising directly and coordinating on a regular and routine basis with the Q2 Impact home office and project partners, H/She will work to establish a strong consortium that works together effectively to empower Jordanian youth.
The Chief of Party must possess the following minimum qualifications:
Education
Preferably a Master’s Degree in social sciences or related field with at least ten (10) years of progressive experience in project management of similar development programs; or a Bachelor's degree in the similar field with at least fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in project management of development programs development projects.
Experience
- At least five (5) years of experience related to education, youth development, capacity building, and/or economic development.
- At least three (3) to (5) years of experience leading a similar project.
- Fluency in spoken and written English is required (Level 4/4). Arabic language skills desirable. ? Excellent written, oral and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with Jordan and the Middle East and North Africa region.
- Excellent demonstrated ability to effectively interact with Jordanian counterparts, government officials and USAID, local professionals, international donors, host country government counterparts, and implementing partners.
Place of Performance: The Chief of Party will be based in Amman, Jordan.
Reporting: The Chief of Party reports to the US-based Project Director
