Job Summary
The Maintenance & Repair Engineer is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and safety of all mechanical, electrical, and facility systems within the warehouse. This role involves routine inspections, preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, and continuous improvement of warehouse equipment and infrastructure. The engineer will also collaborate with other departments to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Preventive Maintenance:
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for all warehouse equipment, including forklifts, conveyors, HVAC systems, and other mechanical and electrical systems.
- Conduct regular inspections and testing of equipment to identify potential issues before they cause disruptions.
- Equipment Repairs:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and technical issues with warehouse equipment.
- Perform repairs on faulty equipment, including replacing parts, recalibrating systems, and ensuring proper operation after repairs.
- Coordinate with external vendors for specialized repairs when necessary.
- Facility Management:
- Oversee the maintenance of the warehouse facility, including lighting, plumbing, and safety systems such as fire alarms and sprinklers.
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards for all facility systems and equipment.
- Manage and oversee contractors for facility repairs and improvements.
- Inventory & Spare Parts Management:
- Maintain an inventory of necessary spare parts and tools to ensure quick and efficient repairs.
- Manage the procurement process for parts and services related to equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Emergency Response:
- Develop and implement emergency response procedures for equipment failure or facility issues.
- Respond to emergency maintenance calls and ensure rapid resolution to minimize operational downtime.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment efficiency and reduce maintenance costs.
- Implement changes and upgrades to systems and equipment to enhance warehouse operations.
- Collaborate with the operations team to understand operational needs and align maintenance efforts with business goals.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities, including work orders, equipment logs, and compliance documents.
- Provide regular reports on maintenance activities, equipment performance, and any issues that impact operations.
- Training & Development:
- Train warehouse staff on proper equipment use, basic troubleshooting, and safety protocols.
- Stay updated on the latest technology and best practices in maintenance engineering.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance and repair engineering, preferably in a warehousing or logistics environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and facility systems.
- Experience with maintenance management software and tools.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
