About The Role

Wiley Science Solutions is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our development team. You will be a key player joining a team developing solutions that are robust and scalable to meet rapidly expanding demand on our KnowItAll Chemical Information platform focusing on spectroscopy and chemical structures.

How You Will Make An Impact

  • Programming Languages – C++ and Windows MFC
  • Analysis & Design - Strong Object-Oriented Analysis and Design. Knowledge of common design patterns and experience in using said patterns in software development
  • Software Development Life Cycle - Experience in Agile development methodologies (we use Kanban)
  • Tools - IDEs (MS Visual Studio and JIRA) and Version Control (Both SVN and Git)
  • OS – Proficiency in Windows
  • Daily Job Duties:
    • Work effectively with a complex legacy C++ code base to design intelligent and efficient scientific solutions for new problems, while working within the context of a legacy code base
    • Develop, maintain, and test software solutions to meet deliverable deadlines
What We Look For

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
  • Demonstrate expert proficiency in C++
  • Strong understanding of Windows (MFC specifically)
  • 10+ years of professional experience over the entire development life cycle
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Either Chemistry education or experience with Chemical Information desirable
  • Agile development experience beneficial (JIRA)
