Job Purpose
- Ensure quality, range and freshness (food) of offered goods to attract and satisfy the customers.
- Responsible to coordinate and communicate between shared services and other retail departments to gain support and to ensure the appropriate implementation of approved branch activities as well as policies and procedures.
- Develop a professional, well trained and effective team which will drive the efforts to be the preferred supermarket for customers in the emirate of Sharjah while providing best-in-class customer service.
Key Accountabilities
*Monitor inventory stock, approve reorders raised by the sections when inventory drops to a specified level. Analyse minimum stock level based on out of stock situations and recommend adjustments where needed.
*Contribute to the branches strategic plan with operational insights and suggestions and guarantee its proper execution.
*Ensure the proper conservation, utilization and profitability of the department’s assets. Centralize all maintenance problems and coordinate with the maintenance department all preventive and reactive maintenance activities to ensure operations is not getting disturbed or interrupted.
*Manage the performance of the whole department (Sales margin, stock level, shrinkage, costs and fees).
*Attend customers when they need support, listen to their requirements and offer solutions. Ensure customer complaints are solved timely and satisfactory for both parties, support the team in finding solutions and escalate complaints which cannot be solved internally without delay.
*Monitor sales activities to ensure that customers receive best-in-class service and quality goods as or above set standards.
*Ensure product availability and service level at any point of time and ensure that the presentation of goods is in line with agreed plans.
*Monitor and report competitor activities (Prices, range, quality etc.) and forward solutions to be best-in-class.
*Conduct daily control visits of all areas. Examine merchandise to ensure correct pricing and display and that it functions as advertised.
*Ensure that product presentation is in line within set guidelines, standards and planogram and take corrective actions if needed.
*Ensure freshness of the offered goods within the set internal quality standards and requirements as per applicable local rules and regulations (only applicable to food related departments).
*Rate supplier performance and out of stock problems through delivery delays and report findings to Merchandise and Sourcing team for further action.
*Prepare regular reports, analyse information and present reports to concerned stakeholders with recommendations for improvements / actions to be taken.
*Coordinate with the Skills Development team to improve the sales capabilities and work-related knowledge and skill needs of the team.
*Ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, rules, internal policies and procedures as well as identify hazards and areas for improvement and take corrective actions.
*Responsible for maintaining company health and safety standards including OSHA standards and promote safety standards.
*Ensure budget compliance and take corrective measures when necessary. Propose and take necessary measures towards the continuous reduction of the operational costs.
*Manage inspection visits from the local authorities and ensure that all non-conformities are immediately solved, and corrective actions are taken to avoid fines or other penalties.
*Contribute to the investigation of major incidents and ensure that the investigation is properly conducted and the “learned lesson” is leading to preventive actions when needed.
*Day to day management of direct reports. Responsible for setting and delegating individual KPIs and activities to ensure targets are met. Regularly monitor and provide constructive feedback relating to performance, ensure high motivation levels, understand training and development needs, and provide insights for improvement of individual performance.
