Role Description:
This is a full-time on-site role for a Housekeeping Supervisor at the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts in Amman, Jordan. The Housekeeping Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing daily housekeeping operations, managing laundry services, ensuring high standards of customer service, and maintaining effective communication with staff and students.
Responsibilities:
1. Supervisory Duties:
- Oversee daily housekeeping activities, ensuring effective and efficient operations.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of housekeeping staff.
- Assign tasks to housekeeping staff and monitor progress to ensure timely and quality work.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleaning standards are met.
2. Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Supervise daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing in various areas including classrooms, offices, restrooms, common areas, lobbies, smoking areas, top restaurants, terraces, banquet halls, theaters, kitchens, clinics, student lobbies, and kiosks.
- Ensure cleanliness of student lockers with at least four visits daily to check tissue supplies and hygiene.
- Supervise laundry and linen rooms, including folding student uniforms.
- Maintain cleanliness in receiving areas and stores (freezing, dry, and general).
- Arrange the refilling and cleaning the coffee machines as needed.
- Regularly check elevators and staircases throughout the day to ensure cleanliness.
- Supervise the stewarding of the dishes in top restaurants and clean science and pot wash areas.
- Assist with the setup and cleanup of special events and during PM shifts when required.
3. Scheduling and Coordination:
- Develop and implement cleaning schedules to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
- Ensure classrooms and meeting rooms are prepared and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to procure necessary cleaning materials and supplies.
- Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring timely replenishment.
4. Communication and Customer Service:
- Communicate effectively with team members, management, and external contractors.
- Collaborate effectively with housekeeping staff and other team members.
5. Health, Safety, and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Report maintenance issues to the maintenance supervisor promptly.
- Adhere to all safety and hygiene standards to ensure a healthy environment.
6. Budget and Resource Management:
- Monitor and control housekeeping budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Manage waste disposal systems and ensure proper disposal of waste.
- Arrange the changes of water bottles regularly as needed.
- Arrange the providing of each kitchen the necessary polishing towels.
7. Training and Development:
- Conduct training sessions for housekeeping staff to ensure high standards of cleanliness and safety.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of housekeeping staff, providing feedback and guidance for improvement.
- Handle any other duties as assigned by management to support the smooth operation of the facility.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in housekeeping, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Supervisory Skills and Housekeeping experience
- Knowledge of Laundry operations
- Strong Customer Service and Communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Team player with leadership abilities
- Previous experience in a similar role is preferred
- Certification in Housekeeping or related field is a plus
