Brief Description of DI :

The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) was founded in Qatar in 2015 as a Doha-based independent institution of higher education. The Institute offers MA and PhD programs in two schools: the School of Social Sciences and Humanities and the School of Economics, Administration and Public Policy. The Institute adopts a student-centred approach to learning, promotes interdisciplinary research, and uses Arabic as the primary language of instruction, with fluency in English a requirement. DI aims to graduate researchers and practitioners who can advance knowledge and better the human condition, while upholding the highest scientific, professional, and ethical standards. It provides advanced leadership-focused training that emphasizes the competencies necessary to satisfy the region's needs in sustainable development and intellectual advancement. Brief Description of Program:

The MSW Program was launched in Fall 2017. It aims to develop a new generation of professional Social Work practitioners and researchers to respond to the needs and well-being of the local and regional populations, promote community development programs, and improve the quality of life of residents of Qatar and the broader region with specific attention to those who are vulnerable, disadvantaged or marginalized. It also prepares graduates for community leadership and clinical social work and to contribute to the knowledge base for the profession.


Job Summary:

Teaching two courses per semester, research, supervision, and participation in various Program and Institute's committees. Preference will be given to candidates fluent in both Arabic and English

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver graduate level courses.
  2. Supervise master's and doctorate students in the program while actively engaging in the academic life of DI.
  3. Publish research in specialized and related fields in leading refereed / peer reviewed journals and/or reputable academic publishing houses.
  4. Undertake administrative responsibilities and contribute to the needs of the program, school, institute, and community.
  5. Participate in various committees at the program, school, and institute levels.

Qualification, Experiences and Skills:

  1. Hold a doctorate degree in the field of Clinical Social Work or related fields
  2. Possess practical and field experience in direct social work practice and clinical supervision.
  3. Demonstrate a track record of scientific research and publications in their field of specialization and related areas in international peer-reviewed journals that align with their academic rank.
  4. Possess competence and experience in graduate-level teaching.
  5. Exhibit proficiency in the Arabic language.
  6. Be capable of attracting external support and funding for research.
  7. Be willing to engage in collaborative, interdisciplinary research with other members of the program and/or institute.
  8. Have the potential to build a global reputation in specialized research fields.

Required Documents:

  1. A comprehensive CV.
  2. A copy of the PhD degree.
  3. A cover letter detailing the motivation for applying to the job vacancy.
  4. Teaching statement expounding the philosophy of education and supervision.
  5. Supporting documents validating teaching experience (e.g., course descriptions and student evaluations) if the candidate holds a teaching position.
  6. Sample of Publication or research in progress.
  7. Research statement and/or current research plan.
  8. Names and contact details of three referees for letters of reference and recommendations.

Additional Required Documents:

  • Ability to provide clinical consultation in social work.
  • Three or more years post-MSW social work practice.
  • Three or more years of teaching graduate-level MSW courses
  • Demonstrated ability to offer services in diverse communities.
