Job Description
Explains the test procedure to the patient to obtain the patient’s cooperation necessary for a
complete examination.
Measures and accurately applies electrodes in a timely manner, according to the
International 10-20 System. Ensure that electrode impedance meets laboratory standards.
Performs EEG records according to the standards and protocols of the laboratory (routine,
sleep, and bedside).
Performs long-term video monitoring EEG in the epilepsy monitoring unit
Implements alternative methods or adjusts controls of the machine to obtain the optimal
recording.
Distinguishes between normal and abnormal test results – describes and annotates all
manifestations and changes observed during tests.
Recognizes artifacts and perform proper steps to eliminate, monitor or document.
Obtain a comprehensive patient history gathering appropriate information from all sources.
Writes and prepares comprehensive technical EEG and EMU summary description.
Maintains a necessary inventory of supplies for an assigned room or workstation, rotation of
stock in an orderly fashion and eliminating outdated items.
Participates in technical conferences and meetings
Performs technical solutions to equipment’s problems when needed while performing an
EEG
Cleans and maintain the equipment after each procedure according to hospital’s infection
control policy
Obtain a satisfactory EEG recording to aid physician in their interpretation
