Our client is a well-established engineering organization specializing in industrial products and services for the oil and gas; industrial, energy, chemicals and process industries.
We are recruiting a UAE experienced mechanical procurement engineer to join their Jebel Ali head office.
The role is responsible for the procurement of engineering materials and services – RFQ-to-order cycle management – source and evaluate suppliers, vendor negotiation to deliver value and reduce costs.
Role Summary
- Source and evaluate vendors and contractors based on quality, price and speed of delivery.
- Initial preparation and issuance of Request for Quotations (RFQs) for a wide array of products, materials and services.
- Commercial review of vendors’ pre-qualification & approval process.
- Review quotations, negotiate prices and provide a cost-benefit analysis to drive cost savings.
- Procure equipment, materials and services compliant with project specifications and requirements within approved budgeted costs and time scales.
- Proactively follow up with placed orders, shipment schedules and deliveries, customs clearance, verify delivery and approve payments.
- Maintain an accurate database of suppliers; conduct regular performance reviews and audits of suppliers to assess supplier performance, including timely delivery and quality and resolving non-conformances to drive continuous improvements.
- Assist with production planning, inventory control and inventory management of raw materials.
- Review and assist with purchase order or invoice discrepancies to resolve pricing, quantity and unit of measure issues to ensure payment within terms for all vendors.
Mandatory Skills & Experience
- 4 – 5 years’ UAE experience in mechanical engineering procurement and vendor sourcing with proficiency in sourcing vendors and negotiating contract terms and conditions.
- UAE procurement experience of plant equipment, including structural steel, piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, rotating equipment, filtration systems, power generation and transmission systems is mandatory.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen to leverage spend and drive supplier performance and competitiveness.
- Ability to understand technical and commercial requirements.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree is mandatory.
- CIPS certification is an advantage.

- Fluent in English – must be able to read, write and speak English.
