The center is renowned for its Arabic language teaching and is the only CELTA provider in Jordan, catering to various linguistic needs.


Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Head of English Department at IH Amman. The Head of English Department will be responsible for overseeing the English language courses in regards to timetabling and placement testing. In addition to teaching up to 20 hours a week and dealing with teacher and students complaints quality to ensure customer and employee satisfaction to line with the institute's standards. Daily tasks include placement testing, liaising with customer support to timetable new courses and assign them teachers, monitoring teachers' performance, and ensuring educational excellence.


Qualifications

  • BA in English Language
  • Cambridge CELTA


Experience (essential)

  • Teaching Experience: Extensive experience in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) or English as a Foreign Language (EFL), with a deep understanding of various teaching methodologies (2 years of experience post CELTA)
  • 1 year experience as a Head of Department or Department Coordinator
  • Experience working in a team


Experience (preferable)

  • Knowledge in the language abilities of various levels and placement testing
  • Experience in teaching IELTS/ TOEFL exam preparation courses
  • Experience in teaching online and offline

Language Proficiency: A competent English speaker of C1 CEFR level

  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with staff, students, and parents, as well as to collaborate with other departments.


3.Technological Proficiency

  • Educational Technology: Familiarity with online teaching platforms Zoom/ Teams/ Meets
  • Administrative Software: Proficiency in using Google Drive
