Project Design Coordinator

Job Purpose

The Design & Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the design process and for the delivery of fully coordinated design proposals and production information and must monitor design production, so they are able to provide design progress reviews to lead designers, lead consultants, project managers and client teams.

Key Result Areas

  • Liaise with Direct manager / architects / Landlords and engineers to gather all Design requirements. As well as design and create 2D & 3D computer models of shops, buildings, and machine parts from blueprints or from scratch.
  • Calculate dimensions, weight limitations and requirements in materials.
  • Describe production methods step-by-step in detailed drawings.
  • Create detailed designs with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Design layouts, detailed drawings and create full specifications and BOQs to illustrate workflow.
  • Prepare and review rough sketches.
  • Identify potential operational issues and redesign products to improve functionality.
  • Ensure final designs comply with regulations and quality standards.
  • Blending technique and aesthetics to create final designs.
  • Create mood boards and Presenting models to management.
  • Oversee design progress against schedule and budget.
  • Implement corrective measures for identified distractions or issues.
  • Review, negotiate and recommend for approval/disapproval on design.
  • Perform constructive reviews conforming design to prime contract requirements and proposal commitments.
  • Coordinate and control design submittals for review and approval.
  • Facilitate resolving design issues.
  • Assist designer on special research and technical projects.
  • Provide assistance in sample boards and shop board’s preparation for presentation and release to shops.
  • Build a full project timeline from the design phase until the handover date and follow it thoroughly.
  • Assist in supplier references and getting samples for all materials required in the designs.
