Job Purpose
The financial controller is responsible for financial planning and analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and internal control. The financial controller may also be responsible for financial reporting to management and the board of directors, as well as compliance with government regulations.
Key Accountabilities
- Prepare and present accurate financial statements and reports to senior management and stakeholders, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the budgeting process, prepare financial forecasts, and monitor financial performance against budgets to guide strategic decision making.
- Manage the company accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Coordinate and liaise with external auditors during financial audits, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and addressing any issues that arise.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement, providing insights to support strategic planning.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements, managing tax filings and liaising with tax authorities as needed.
- Supervise and mentor accounting and finance staff, fostering professional development and ensuring team effectiveness.
- Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operational needs and optimizing working capital.
- Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, including managing insurance and compliance-related risks.
- Responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards, managing budgeting and forecasting processes, implementing internal controls, coordinating audits, and analyzing financial data for strategic insights to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial management in Oracle Fusion.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees such as an MBA or Master degree is a huge plus.
- 7-10 years of experience in finance or accounting roles, with at least 3-5 years in a management or leadership position.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP or IFRS) and financial reporting. Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is preferred.
- Excellent leadership, team management skills, strong analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with accounting software and ERP systems (Oracle Fusion).
