OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

To ensure that effective WHO country presence is established to implement WHO country cooperation strategies that are aligned with Member State's health priorities, sustainable development agendas and harmonized with the United Nations country teams and partners toimprove health outcomes and progress towards achieving Universal Health Coverage.

Description Of Duties

Under the supervision of the Communication for Partnership Officer and the overall guidance of the Head of WHO Country Office (HWCO), the incumbent is the focal point for all to provide support by strengthening actions in Communication through:

To amplify public health programmes by supporting communications officer in developing and implementing the communication and media work and by generating visibility for WHO's work including corporate communications, media relations, advocacy and campaigns, audio visual production, assisting communication during emergencies.

  • Support in exploring, planning, developing, and resourcing the WCO Jordan potential areas for growing effective and impactful partnerships.- Draft timely press releases, articles and success stories, news and regularly update WHO country office website and provide input for UN website in relation to WHO's work- Monitor and analyse local social media and social media landscapes for prevailing public health topics and discussions and report specific focus on how WHO is being mentioned and regularly share information with programmes. in WHO hub in Jordan.- Assist in preparation of WHO events, including communication and advocacy materials in coordination with regional EMRO and country technical staff.- Support the effective implementation of WHO programmes to raise the visibility of the organization and support the coordination and provide common platforms for partnership with different stakeholders (Donors, collaborating centres and partners) to achieve common goals.- Liaise with United Nations Agencies to broaden WHO's audience by using external and internal channels through the United Nations Communications Groups (UNCG).- Support in highlighting the emergency topics and high priority issues, develop and disseminate RCCE plan with key messages and products in coordination with national authorities and partners.- Liaise with technical teams to ensure accuracy of WHO messages and communication materials.- Support the planning and implementation of communication products in regard to design and content, to ensure consistent branding of WHO communication products and materials across all channels of WCO to maintain public trust in the organization.- Assist in ensuring WR and WCO spokespeople are prepared to represent the WHO in Jordan when speaking to the media or at conferences by producing talking points, speeches, provide background information on media outlets and journalists.- Support the communications officer in attending to cross-functional areas of WCO Jordan, including planning and implementation of emergency communications, health campaigns, Internal communications, and media relations.- Support in developing the audio-visual products for WCO Jordan communication, by translating the technical information into visually representative and impactful products.- Regularly support the Communication Officer to liaise with communication officers at all WHO levels, provide regular updates to EMRO, gather intelligence about upcoming events, products, etc. that could be promoted on social media.- Maintainthe contacts with local media and disseminate information on relevant WHO events.

Required Qualifications

Education

Essential: Secondary education of high school.

Desirable: Completion of bachelor's degree related to Communications.

Experience

Essential: At least five years progressive experience working in the communication field undertaking social media tasks in a private sector.

Desirable: At least one year's work experience in public health and/or development. Working experience with UN/international organization

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to perform tasks in a timely manner with high level of accuracy.-Excellent writing skills and knowledge of digital content social media writing.-Excellent knowledge of what is newsworthy and communication/presentation skills.- Skills/experience with Adobe Photoshop or similar software design applications would be an asset- Highly organized and efficient team-player with initiative.

REMUNERATION

WHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at JOD 17,286 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
