Business Development Manager

Job Purpose: The Business Development and National Projects Manager will be responsible for promoting Public-Private-Partnership to advance national and regional sustainability either by implementing existing feasibility studies or conducting new ones. The candidate will also be leading the management of national projects in Jordan that have been funded by donors or by the private sector which includes the initiation, planning, executing, controlling and the closing of the projects to achieve defined project outcomes.

Responsibilities include: Business Development:

●     Research, analyze, and identify key environmental challenges /opportunities, both locally and regionally focusing on Water, Energy, Food and the nexus between them to priorities creating national and regional business cases that come with advanced technology and better marketing opportunities.

●     Advance major financial, political and administrative commitments needed to set the stage for PPP/ private sector investments in water, energy, waste and food security.

●     Map and identify private sector players of relevance to XX's projects (investors in agriculture, renewable energy, waste and water) regionally, nationally, and internationally.

●     Build and maintain strong relationships with private businesses, investors, stakeholders and government officials to further develop specific investment opportunities.

●     Identify necessary legal, contractual, and governance structures to attract investors.


●     Hiring consultants to conduct feasibility studies to evaluate the economic and technical viabilities of proposed business cases.

●     Seeking the implementation of existing feasibility studies.


Project Management

●     Managing and sustaining existing national projects and to ensure that they continue to meet their designated objectives.

●     Contributing to the preparation of Project Proposals and Project Initiation documents.

●     Produce programs work plans within budget, on time and to agreed quality standards as listed in the project proposals and budgets.

●     Program plans commissioned and decommissioned in line with organizational strategy.

●     Project procurement needs are addressed timely and according to the policies and procedures in close collaboration with the Procurement Manager.

●     Comprehensive documentation is created and maintained as per XX and the Donors’ policies and procedures.

●     Liaise with financial manager and Regional Project Director on meeting financial objectives by forecasting requirements; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.


Partnerships

●     Cultivate and maintain strong partnerships with private sector entities, governmental agencies, NGOs, and local communities to facilitate collaboration on environmental initiatives.

●     Identify potential partners and stakeholders with shared environmental goals and interests, fostering mutually beneficial relationships.

●     Attend and represent XX at climate conferences, workshops, and other relevant events to engage with potential partners and showcase innovative solutions.


Additional Responsibilities:

 

●     Supervise and line manage the projects officers and/or coordinators.

●     Work closely with colleagues and contribute across the team as necessary.

●     Perform any other reasonable duties as required from time to time.


Job Qualifications and Competencies:

●     A degree in business administration, economics, supplemented by a master’s degree (a plus) with a focus on economics and sustainable development.

●     Minimum of 6 years of experience in Business Development, Investment and Projects Management.

●     Knowledge and experience in emerging green markets and sustainable development.

●     Ability to independently identify business cases and promote them to potential private investors or donor agencies.

●     Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic; fluency in other languages is advantageous.

●     Strong interpersonal skills, capable of effective interaction with clients and colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds.

●     Ability to mentor junior staff members.

●     Highly motivated, and committed to the highest ethical standards.

●     Willingness to travel extensively.

●     Deep understanding of cultural differences and ability to work with diverse constituencies.
